Teaching Fellows & USC Upstate Strategic Initiatives

The USC Upstate Priority Strategies: 

Goal 1. Expand local impact and visibility. 

Outcome Metrics: Volunteer hours, number of local events and meetings.

  • Complete or exceed 10 external service hours locally; in K-12 schools, Teacher Cadets partnerships, and local organizations.​

  • Actively participate with one approved student organization.

  • Attend at least one statewide cohort meeting per semester.

  • Engage in education advocacy opportunities.

 

Goal 2. Increase scholars’ exposure to multicultural experiences. 

Outcome Metrics: Increased conference presentation, bonding activities, Teacher Cadet New Teacher Shopping Day.

  • Present at regional and national conferences related to education, teacher leaders, or other related issues. 

  • Design regular cohort bonding activities.

  • Engage with guest speakers and presenters.

  • Increase outreach projects.

 

Goal 3. Achieve academic excellence and self-efficacy. 

Outcome Metrics: Increased cohort GPA, Praxis exam scores, successful graduates.

  • Increase and maintain individual cumulative GPA.

  • Regularly participated in academic support initiatives. 

  • Graduate 1 scholar by December 2023 and 7 by May 2024

 

Goal 4. Promote and engage all scholars in holistic health and wellness. 

Outcome Metrics: Goal setting and routine check-ins, Onward book study, wellness seminars

  • Actively participate in Onward: Cultivating Emotional Resilience in Educators book study and related activities.

  • Identify social-emotional needs and engage with guest speakers on this topic. 

  • Establish and maintain healthy daily routines. 

  • Maintain healthy relationships within and beyond cohort members, actively seeking solutions to challenges
